Planning Your Fall Elopement at Guanella Pass

If you’re dreaming of a Colorado fall elopement, here are a few tips to make your day smooth and unforgettable:

1. Timing is Everything

Peak foliage at Guanella Pass usually hits late September to early October. Plan your elopement for a weekday to avoid crowds, especially during the fall leaf-peeping season.

2. Dress for the Elements

Weather at high elevation can shift quickly—pack layers, warm accessories, and solid footwear. Even on sunny days, it can get chilly at the pass.

3. Leave No Trace

As an adventure elopement photographer, I’m passionate about preserving these wild places. Stay on trail, pack out everything you bring, and keep your ceremony footprint light.

4. Consider Permits

While Guanella Pass doesn’t currently require a permit for small elopements, it’s always best to check with the U.S. Forest Service or work with a photographer who’s familiar with local regulations.
