Best Places to Elope in Colorado
Dreaming of a Colorado Elopement, But not Sure where to start? Here are my Top 5 Locations to get your Elopement Planning Started.
Eloping in Colorado is worth all the hype it gets. It is so hard to beat all the Stunning Views this state has to offer.
With Eloping comes a stereotype that you also have to be a wildly adventurous couple to have these kind of backdrops.
I’m here to show you otherwise.
Although I am always here for adventure, As a Colorado Elopement Photographer my Top 5 favorite locations to Elope in are all easily accessible and require absolutely no hiking.
These locations also require little backend work, and have little to no cost at all associated with getting married at them.
1. GUENELLA PASS
Being a wedding Photographer in Colorado is such a luxury. There is so many incredible views that are breath taking and hard to ever forget
Guenella Pass is one of those. The views are unbeatable and there is so many places to stop that provide you with a jaw dropping background on your elopement day.
The drive up to the summit is filled with flowing Creeks, Large lakes, and in the summer Wild flowers galore.
These are all also very easily accessible and just steps away from your car or a good parking spot.
The summit of Guenella Pass is my absolute favorite. The unique Colorado Mountains make for a perfect place to say your vows.
You can leave the way you came or continue to drive down the mountain and the back side is just as breath taking as the way there.
You may even run into wildlife along the way such as moose or in the summer the wild horses love to roam the fence lines as you get closer to highway 285.
This location is perfect Late May to Early October, The highway to the summit is closed through winter to keep everyone safe.
So if you are planning to elope in Guenella Pass pick a time of year that is either blooming with wildflowers or covered in yellow aspen leaves and you really can’t go wrong.
2. LOVELAND PASS
Loveland Pass is such a gem to Colorado and everyone who wants to elope here.
With 360 degree views and snow packed mountain caps almost all year long this location has proven to be a favorite of not only mine but many other couples looking to elope
This is a great spot because it gives you a little bit of everything you need.
Summit Views, Alpine lakes, and a little something unique every season.
This is a crowd favorite but easy to find the perfect quiet spot to say your “I Do’s”
3. STORM PASS TRAIL HEAD
Nestled in Rocky Mountain National Park, Storm Pass is a quieter spot in the park with some of my favorite views in all of Colorado.
This Location has the mountain Backdrop of my dreams as well as a flowing river just near by.
With Wildflowers growing in the forest behind you, I encourage all my couples to consider this location when window shopping for their perfect elopement spot.
It has easy to access trails that are adjacent from a pull over parking lot. With no hiking required to get to get the stunning photos you deserve while eloping with the love of your life.
Although this location is in the National Park, you do not need a wedding reservation for this spot. however you will need a park pass as well as a photography permit.
This location is great all year round but of course winter comes with its own challenges in the Colorado mountains. Spring is my favorite time of year to shoot in the park and help couples Elope.
You are bound to run into some wildlife making your day complete.
4. ECHO LAKE / JUNIPER PASS ROAD
Echo Lake is one that I feel like gets lost in the shuffle, but it is truly one that should be hyped up more than it is.
The lake views are completed with Mt. Bierstadt in the background, and a trail that allows you to explore all around the lake
Couples like this location because it also comes with a stunning drive that lets you stop at multiple places to enjoy more of Colorado’s Mountains
Say your private vows at the lake and then Drive Juniper Pass down to the valley and get golden hour newly wed photos you can swoon over forever
Juniper Valley is covered in Wild flower June-July and has the most beautiful leaf changes during fall
This location is close to many other mountain towns that you can end the evening in celebrating over dinner with just the two of you, or have friends and family join in as well.
5. EMPIRE
Not to say I saved the best for last, but I may have saved my favorite for last.
This off the road location is one I accidently stumbled on and have not been able to stop going to since.
It has a river that backs into a mountain view, Water falls, and meadows that turn into forests.
I have never seen anyone else at this location so it makes a perfect spot for you and your loved ones to celebrate privately.
This spot doesn’t require hiking but there is some terrain I like to tell my couples about.
I would say it has a great mix of adventure and a lot of accessible views.
These just so happen to be my Top Five favorite elopement locations as an Elopement photographer.
Of course Colorado has so many beautiful options along side these
